There was a short dispute about who had to scoop out the insides. And from the looks on their faces, pretty much everyone thought the “guts” were gooey and slimey. But, after some hard work and a couple “triple dog dare you’s” from the boys, it was on to the carving. Topped it all off with hot cocoa and sliced apples dipped into caramel. Maybe it was the glow from the candle inside the jack’o’lantern, but the whole room felt warm. Full of family and laughter- just like memories of being a kid.
